Pet Ultrasound
At Elm Creek Animal Hospital, Dr. Mey Nevo performs abdominal ultrasounds on a daily basis. Since 2008, Dr. Mey Nevo has attended multiple post-graduate ultrasound seminars including a preceptorship with one-on-one training with a board-certified radiologist in a clinical setting.
The clinical questions demanded of veterinary abdominal ultrasound are fairly broad and can at times be intense. At times, other forms of advanced imaging (like CT or MRI) may be cost prohibitive or impractical for some veterinary applications. Ultrasound examinations by trained operators are able to identify an assortment of diseases, including small tumors, vascular invasion, and vascular anomalies.
Some of the indications for ultrasound imaging include (but aren’t limited to):
- Increased thirst/urination
- Blood in the urine
- Blood in the stools
- Vomiting
- Diarrhea
- Unexplained weight loss
- Pregnancy checks
- Poor appetite
- Advanced health screening in geriatric patients
